Our coffee & impact
Coffee with a story,
a movement with a mission.
Coffeesisters exports green, unroasted coffee from Kenya directly to coffee roasters in the Netherlands. These roasters buy our green coffee and roast it locally. Businesses can carry the Coffeesisters label.
Coffee roasters who buy Coffeesisters coffee, and their business customers, receive an access code for the Coffeesisters toolkit. This toolkit is intended exclusively for businesses and offers a changing range of posters, communication materials and Coffeesisters items, such as jewellery. This allows roasters and their business customers to make the brand and the story behind the coffee visible.
Through the collaboration with Charles Mutwiri Rintaugu, uncle of Lucy and Mercy and founder of Mukarimu Coffee Estate, Coffeesisters has a direct, personal connection with the coffee plantation in Meru. In this way, we connect the origin of our coffee with the story of the people behind its cultivation.
EUDR & a transparent coffee chain
Our coffee meets the EUDR requirements and comes from a transparent, traceable chain. The EUDR is the European deforestation regulation. It includes origin data down to the growing plots, checks on deforestation and the required due diligence procedure.

The origin
Kenyan coffee.
A personal connection.
Coffeesisters has its roots in Kenya. The story begins with Lucy and Mercy and takes us to the people and the daily work on the coffee plantations. Their history is the starting point for a brand that links taste and quality to respect for the people in the chain.
Through the collaboration with Charles, uncle of Lucy and Mercy and founder of Mukarimu Coffee Estate, our coffee has a personal connection with Meru. His plantation shows how much craftsmanship goes into growing and processing coffee. By giving that origin a face, we bring the world behind the cup closer.
Fair trade & transparency
A coffee chain you can follow.
A fair price, transparent origin and the prospect of a living income are the starting points for our purchasing. We map the origin, the parties involved and the agreements in the chain.
This also includes attention for the women in the chain: their work, their position and their opportunities to develop. In this way, we connect the story behind the coffee to the choices we make as a brand.

EUDR & traceability
Our coffee meets the EUDR requirements.
Our coffee comes from a transparent, traceable chain. Coffeesisters connects the origin in Kenya directly with coffee roasters in the Netherlands. This makes it clear where the coffee comes from and which parties are involved in the chain.
The EUDR (European Union Deforestation Regulation) is the European regulation on deforestation. For coffee, this means that the origin must be traceable down to the growing plots, that the coffee has been produced in accordance with the relevant legislation of the country of production, and that it does not come from land deforested after 31 December 2020.
The EUDR also involves verifiable origin data, the geographical location of the growing plots and the required due diligence procedure, with an assessment of risks and measures where necessary. This means chain transparency goes further than just knowing which country the coffee comes from.
Our foundation
Investing where coffee begins.
The foundation stands for education, safety and employment in the communities at the start of the coffee chain. We do this through our foundation, Coffeesisters.org. Through the foundation, we decide together which initiatives receive support and how the funds are used.
The needs of the people involved are the starting point. Our approach combines knowledge, a safe environment and opportunities for paid work, with special attention to women and young people.
Work & income
Coffeesisters Academy
With Coffeesisters Academy, we connect practical training to opportunities for paid work. The operator and technician training focuses on the daily operation and care of coffee machines, maintenance and resolving faults. The training and the work take place in Kenya, so young people there learn a trade and build their own income.
Training with Charles
At Mukarimu Coffee Estate, Charles shares his knowledge of coffee growing and processing with other coffee farmers, and the company involves young people in coffee growing. We are further developing the link with this hands-on training.
Education
In addition to the vocational practical training, we want to contribute to education and development opportunities for children and young people.
One organisation we want to sponsor through the foundation is Stawi4Life. It guides children and young people in Kibera through education towards work. We are working out the options for support.
From ambition to action
A contribution you can see.
Our foundation calls for clear choices. That is why we are working out the funding, the criteria for support and the reporting on spending. We are further developing the contribution from coffee sales and the first projects.
Once these agreements are in place, we will share which funds are available, which initiatives are supported and what has been achieved. That way, everyone can follow the story and the development of Coffeesisters.
More than coffee, a sisterhood.
