Training

Operating and technician training through Coffeesisters Academy, education and opportunities through Stawi4Life, and coffee growing and hands-on training with Charles & Mukarimu. Here we bring together our plans for learning, expertise and future prospects.

Coffee service & expertise

Coffeesisters Academy.

Step 1 — Operating: online course and hands-on training.

Step 1 is full operating training for staff responsible for the coffee service. The training combines an online course with hands-on training at the machine on location.

The content differs per machine model and version. Both the online course and the practical part are tailored to the chosen machine: operation, drink settings, refilling, working hygienically and cleaning the machine and milk system are all covered. Daily checks and recognising and reporting faults are also part of the operator’s role.

For Coffeesisters in Kenya, we translate the training concept of the Beautiful People Academy to local practice and the machines used on location.

Technician — faults and repairs.

The operating training is followed by step 2: training as a technician. Participants learn to investigate and resolve faults and carry out repairs on coffee machines.

The technical training is tailored to the machine model and version being used. In this way, we build local knowledge for maintenance, faults and repairs.

Training / Options for support

Stawi4Life in Kibera.

Stawi4Life, formerly Stichting4Life, has been working with partners since 2007 on opportunities for children and young people in Kibera, a neighbourhood in Nairobi. The foundation supports their development from the first day of school to the step into further education, training and work. The name ‘Stawi’ means ‘to grow’ and ‘to flourish’ in Swahili.

Background information: Stawi4Life’s own website.

Support and collaboration offer opportunities to connect education and practical knowledge with job opportunities.
